Hurricanes. Earthquakes. Typhoons. Destruction. Death. Homeless. Rampant Drugs. Hunger. Thirst. Hate. Bullying. Heartbreak. None Accepting. Mental Illness. Guns. Deaths. Gangs. Fear. Major Fires. Anxiety. Hopelessness. Tears. And More Deaths.
Pick up the paper on any given day and you probably can read an article about any of the above mentioned. It is very easy for anyone to get drawn into the sadness and the heartache that so many are feeling.
We feel hopeless with the terrible things that are occurring almost on a daily basis, or at least it feels that way. We cry for those left to deal with the devastation of losing everything, and for some, their very lives. We wait for the evening news to see updates on those suffering and wonder why this happened. Under the circumstances, it is understandable that many lose their faith.
It seems that everything right is turned upside down. So, where do we go from here? How do we help those who have lost their faith? What can we do to help heal broken hearts? And how do we help those so devastated and broken feel whole again?
First, we can donate our time and resources to help those in need. We can be ready to listen, really listen to everyone we meet. We can reach out and show our support and love letting hurting hearts know that they are not alone. We can be a presence in their lives, walking side by side, helping to carry their burdens. We can entertain strangers, smiling, hugging and asking, ” What can I do for you?” But, most importantly, we can pray. We can pray together, alone, and throughout the day for those who desperately need it.
I believe our prayers float up to heaven. I believe he is waiting patiently to hear our loving prayers. It doesn’t make any difference what religion we practice. He loves every one of us.
I believe if we can do something, anything to let all those in need know that we care, faith just might have a fighting chance. For we know in our hearts wonderful things can happen if we have just a little faith.
Who can you help today? Make a difference whether big or small in someone’s life and watch the faith grow!
