Today is November 29, 2017. Sixteen months ago, my precious great-grandson made his journey to heaven. His name was Skyler and he was only twenty-nine days old. This is my twenty-first letter to Skyler. I originally started journaling to help me with the grief I was feeling. However, the more I journaled the more I wanted to share with those that had suffered a loss beyond belief.
Skyler’s Letter; Tears From Heaven is very dear to my heart. It is my hope that it will bring peace, hope, forgiveness, compassion, and love to all who read it.
Dear Gigi,
I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. Please tell Mommy that I sat next to her at the table. I kissed my little brother on the cheek while he was sleeping. I heard you say, ” Awe Carson is smiling.” That was me. He smiled when I whispered, ” I love you” in his ear.
Gigi, today the angels brought some children to heaven. Some were babies, some were little children and some were teenagers. Some of them were sick, some died in accidents and some died because they could not stand the pain they were feeling in their hearts. Before the angels brought them home, Gabriel blew his horn and then we all made our way to the Story Hill. Jesus was waiting for us, sitting on his favorite rock, surrounded by angels. The sky turned gray as we sat down and waited to listen to a new story. I saw Jesus wiping his eyes. He was crying, Gigi. Our sweet Jesus cries when his heart is breaking. Everyone quieted down and waited.
Jesus told us about the sick children who were coming. We all knew that they would be healed of their illnesses as soon as they arrived in heaven. The children who died from an accident would be healed too. Then Jesus told us about the children who had broken hearts. Yes, their hearts would be filled with happiness and they would never have broken hearts again. Jesus told us that everyone is welcomed into heaven no matter what. Then he told us a story about why the ten-year-old child and the teenager had broken hearts.
Gigi, did you ever hear the word, bully? Jesus told us that a bully is a person who intimidates those who are different, shy, and quiet. They say mean things that make the person feel bad, really bad. It is sad because, on earth, children, teenagers, even grown-ups want to fit in with others. They want friends. They want to be loved. Sometimes they may not have a lot of clothes, or maybe they are chubby or learn differently. Sometimes bullies pick on those who work hard in school and have everything. The bully keeps saying hurtful things over and over again day after day. Many of the children say nothing to their teachers and families. They carry their hurt in their hearts until they can no longer take it. Often those who cannot find the strength will make their way to heaven where all hearts are healed.
Gigi, I will meet the new children and teenagers who make their journey to heaven and, I will love each one of them. They will be perfect in every way. When the two newcomers arrive, they will forgive the one who made them feel so bad. Jesus told us to pray for the bullies on earth. He told us that sometimes bullies have broken hearts and do not know how to fix it, so they hurt other’s to hide their pain.
Gigi, tell everyone that Jesus is love and wants everyone to love other’s regardless of their differences. There is no need for jealousy, or to be nasty to anyone. We are all equal in God’s eyes. He wants us to treat other’s like we want to be treated. We need to find the best in everyone and encourage and be happy for them when good things happen. Please tell them that every little boy and every little girl matter and every teenager and grownup matters too. Everyone deserves to be respected and loved. Gigi, I love you so much. Please tell everyone that no one should have a broken heart. No one should feel left out and no one should feel hopeless. Tell them not to give up. God is love. Remember, we are all God’s children, even those who bully or hurt others. Gigi, tell them when we forgive those who hurt us, our hearts smile.
Love, Skyler
Dear Parents,
I encourage you to talk to your children or teens about bullying. If you suspect your child is being bullying, talk with their teachers and friends. Try to get to the bottom of it. Sometimes children and teens are reluctant to talk about what is happening in their lives. Let them know that you are there for them and always ready to listen. Bullying happens to all ages, even senior citizens. Be there and take care of all of your loved ones.
Cynthia
Dear Cynthia; This is a very touching and heartfelt message and I hope that the parents will take it seriously and talk with their children, especially when they don’t want to go to school or be with their friends, because something is going on they need to know. Thank you for sharing your deep feelings about the loss of a child. You are so right, that we will all one day be together again.
Love,
Cousin Lois

That is a good message. Almost always, bullying begins with gossip. It’s important that we send a message into our communities that we won’t put up with any gossiping, bullying or any kind of intimidation in our schools and in our community centers and workplaces.
