THE SATURDAY ALMOST SUNDAY SCOOP

Today was a busy but gratifying day.  First I had a book signing at Mycalyn’s Floral and Gifts. It was great!  Yes, I sold books, but most importantly the conversations I had with the shoppers were priceless. The holidays always seem to bring the best out of people. And today was no exception. I loved it!

The excitement started to build as a local television station’s cameraman entered the shop. He set up his camera at just the right angle, stopped folks and inquired if he could ask them a few questions. Guess what? He asked me. It was a great experience, and hopefully, I will be on the news later tonight.  Oh my, I feel like such a celebrity! Look out Hollywood, here I come.

Later in the afternoon, I  had the pleasure of attending my great grandson’s tenth birthday party.  His party was held at a trampoline center.  Although I did not see him or his birthday guests jump, I am confident they had a great time.  One thing I know for sure is that the pizza and cupcakes were a hit. I could tell by some of their saucy and chocolate faces.  Children are a special gift. They bring joy and love to our hearts.  Happy Birthday, dear Preston! I love you beyond words.

After driving home from the birthday party, my husband, Rick and I went out for a nice dinner.  It was delicious!  I genuinely enjoy spending time with the wonderful man who occupies my heart.

As I sat down to think about my story for today, my mind wandered down the road of, wow, what great day! I thought about each person who walked through the flower shop door and the impression they made on me. They were kind, funny, and caring.

I thought about the two little girls who searched quietly with their daddy looking for the perfect gift for someone special, their mommy.

I thought about the children at the birthday party, running, playing with balloons, and having a wonderful time.

I thought about my great-grandson and how much he means to me.

I thought about the waitress who took our order, looking a tad weary but cheerful and attentive.

I thought about my dear husband, and how much I love him and the reasons why.

I have learned in my many years of life that it takes all kinds of people to make the world go round. Sometimes people are not as nice as we would like them to be. However, today, I experienced caring men, women, and children making a difference to all those they met.

What a beautiful sight to see and the heart to feel. Even though it was a cloudy, damp day, it felt warm and sunny to me.
