THANK YOU THURSDAY

Tonight’s Christmas story is about a group of forty senior citizens who reside at Moravian Hall Square in Nazareth.

Today, I had the privilege of presenting my program, The Christmas Orange at this beautiful facility. I love storytelling about Christmas during the Great Depression.  After I wrapped up that part of my program, I shared with them about growing up on a farm with no heat in our upstairs, and no indoor plumbing. As I looked out over my audience, I saw smiles and eyes that remembered.  I believe they were taking a stroll down memory lane through my stories. I love senior citizens. They have a wealth of knowledge and a deep appreciation of life. After my program was finished, we were treated to orange punch and orange cranberry muffins. It was a lovely afternoon.

I have written several short stories about people we meet on our daily path. I believe the people who attended my program were supposed to be there. I think the stories I told, were meant to bring memories that were buried, front and center. Perhaps the memories will continue to meander around their thoughts, and wake up others that were stored from days gone by.  Now that is a lovely thought.

Moravian Hall Square is a beautiful facility. In the main hallway, there are many hand knitted hats hanging from the ceiling.  Knitting seniors work year round, then donate each one to organizations who help others.  How generous! As I walked under the hats, I could feel the love floating down from each one.

Right next to the knitted hats was a beautiful display of artwork. The pictures were gorgeous! There are many talented residents at Moravian. How wonderful to encourage them to continue what they love.

It was a great day! I found joy in the eyes of each senior, along with enjoying their talents. Thank you, Moravian Hall Square for the invite. I enjoyed each moment of my afternoon.   And to the residents, may God continue to Bless you all, and keep you healthy and happy.  Merry Christmas!  Hope to see you again!

  1. When I was 4 years old & my Dad came home from the Service we moved into a Summer Kitchen on a farm. We didn’t have any indoor plumbing & I had to use an outhouse. I remember getting washed off at the kitchen sink once a week for my bath. Thanks for sharing your Memoris!
