Skyler was my Great Grandson. He was an adorable baby with the most loving smile that radiated like rays of summer.  Skyler made his journey to heaven twenty – nine days after he was born.  He is missed beyond words, especially this time of the year. In this story, Skyler sends a Christmas letter to his Gigi. I hope that Skyler’s Message will bring peace and love to all.

Dear Gigi,

How are you doing? Are you getting ready for Christmas? At night, when I look down from heaven, I see little tiny sparkles of color almost everywhere. Those sparkles look like small stars shining up from the earth.  I love it, Gigi!

I like to visit all of you. Especially this time of the year. The green trees look so pretty dressed up with their twinkly lights and shiny round balls.  The angels on top of the trees are beautiful. I like how they seem to be dancing on the branches.  God made trees. Did you know that Gigi? He made everything. And I do mean everything!

Two days ago, Gabriel blew his horn, and we all went to the Story Hill. Jesus was there waiting for us. His Mother, Mary sat next to Him. This year Mary told us the story of her son’s birth.  Gigi, it was terrific! Jesus looked up to the sky, nodded His head, and it got really dark. Just then all the stars came out from hiding and sparkled in the air. One star was bigger than all the others. Mary told us that was the star the Wisemen followed.  Mary’s voice was soft, really soft. I wanted to hug her so badly.

The birth of baby Jesus is my favorite story.  Gigi, last year I was a shepherd boy. I really loved working with the sheep. This year, my friend, Patrick was the shepherd boy.  Patrick came to Heaven a little while ago. I really like him. Did I tell you that all the animals come to the Story Hill?  Especially on the night when Jesus was born.

After the story, Jesus told us another one. He told us that many people are sad on earth. Jesus said that many people are hungry, and have nowhere to live.

He is worried about everyone. Sometimes, I see Him looking down at the earth. He looks really sad. One day I asked what was wrong? He looked at me and smiled. I saw a little tear on His cheek. Jesus said that there was a lot of sadness in the whole world. Then we took a walk, and I asked Him to fix everyone and make them happy. He looked at me and smiled. He told me that He was waiting for those who need help to come to Him.  Gigi, Jesus wants peace on earth more than anything in the whole wide world. He wants people to reach out and help others, but most of all He wants everyone to love one another as He loves them.

Today, Patrick and I walked down to our favorite cloud and looked down at the earth. Then, Patrick looked at me, and shouted, “Please love one another!”  I yelled the same thing. Do you think people heard us? Tell everyone to reach out and just love.  It is what He wants. Maybe if everyone tries to care about their neighbor, things might change. Maybe there would be peace on earth. Jesus would love that.

Gigi, I will visit on Christmas. When you feel a little tickle on your cheek, it will be me. Tell my brothers that I love them very much. Tell everyone that I am happy in Heaven. Tell them that someday we will all be together. I love you, Gigi. Thank you for putting the pretty Christmas flower on my grave. I heard you talking to me that day. Did you feel a little wind blowing against your cheek, that was me.
