Today is Sunday, and I am feeling a little better. The day started out a little overcast and a tad warmer. However, the sun is scheduled to make an appearance sometime today, along with enough wind to make the temps feel much colder than it actually is. It doesn’t matter since I will be in again today, recuperating. Yesterday, I was in my pj’s all day, but today, I am showered and dressed. I call that making progress. Since I do not get ill very often, these few days have been hard on me; however, I will be back in the midst of things before I know it.
What’s that I see? It’s the sun. With the sun I see walkers outside my patio door. How nice to see folks enjoying the fresh air. This might sound funny, but I like to say a little prayer when people walk past my home. I always ask a special blessing for the men, women, and children. I pray they will be safe, healthy, and happy.
I extend those prayers to every big, middle size, and small dogs that lead their masters up and down my street too. Although I enjoy seeing the dogs, one, in particular, has touched my heart beyond words. Her name is Lacey. She is a brown and white medium mixed Corgi filled with so much love that she oozes it.
I personally met Lacey last summer, when I was reading on my front porch. Her owner, a sweet gal around my age, complimented on the colors of my house. As soon as this precious dog heard my voice, she climbed the front steps and pulled her mommy right over to me.
Her sweet owner shared that Lacey never did that before. What a little lover, she gave me kisses one after another. Finally, after many head rubs and a few more kisses, they headed up the street. The next night, the same thing happened again, except this time, I was so into my book that I didn’t realize they were in front of my home. Lacey ran right up those steps again, and the kisses began. This happened for several more days.
Then my husband and I went away for a few days. I must admit, I missed that beautiful little girl with the sweetest eyes. One evening after returning from our little adventure, I took a walk and spotted the little gal ahead of me. As I got closer, all I had to say was, ” Hi,” at that, Lacey stopped, turned and pulled her mommy right to me. She did a little dance and of course, kisses galore. My heart soared.
It always amazes me how much our pets love us! They love purely and unconditionally. And that goes for cats too. Just asked me about a special meower named Ethel. Love is a beautiful emotion. Our pets know just how to make us happy. Not just for one day, or two but every day that we are blessed to share in their lives.
