When my Grandchildren come to visit, I always feel a wave of love as each one arrives. From the time they walk up the back steps to the time they open the door, the rush I feel in my heart grows like the waves heading towards the shore. Listening to them talking about their dreams, and hopes fill my heart with pride at the wonderful young men and woman they have become.
And when the food is ready, and the eating begins, it never ceases to amaze me how full they make their plates. Then the quiet, the forks to mouth, and the memories of when they were little rushes in filling me with images of various ages, sitting around the same table. And once again, the wave of love comes crashing in a way that fills my heart to capacity for those attached to chairs, passing plates, buttering bread, joking, and laughing; with me smiling with my face and with my heart.
Then, the chocolate cake and ice cream appear to those stuffed but who can not refuse. Next, the laughter and the remember when begin? And I am in my glory. As I laugh at all the antics they recall, the waves keeping rushing and rushing. Soon it is time to go, but it’s okay, for this Grandma is filled until the next time when the love rushes in like the waves at the shore.
Cynthia’s words of wisdom…
The love between a grandmother and her grandchildren is special. Her pearls of wisdom are an essential key to help guide each one as they go through the different stages of their lives. A Grandmother loves unconditionally and is always ready to help in any way she can. She will encourage, be kind, and confident while still showing and expecting respect. To be a Grandmother is the best feeling in the world.
My name is Cynthia Jean DeLuca. I am a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. I believe in following your dreams and never giving up! Helping others is very important to me, for when we help others, we help ourselves. It is my hope to make a difference in the lives of children and grown-ups. My hobbies are writing, quilting and painting. I am a novice at all three but, enjoy them immensely. I grew up on a farm with no indoor plumbing and no heat in our upstairs. I love life and have a very strong faith. Working on inspirational short stories for grown- ups. Love to speak on topics that touch my heart.
