Did you ever have a day when even though you have Christmas trees to undress and dried up greens to collect, but a good book keeps calling your name? That would be me today. Reading is one of my passions. In fact, I received eight new books for Christmas!
Now don’t get me wrong, I like a neat house, and I love to be in my kitchen cooking; however, I also enjoy the adventures that books take me on. You might say, that I am in love with words.
Although I am not a hoarder of books, I am a lover of books and have a nice library of my own. Since, I am in love with many genres, the variety of books is endless.
Books were my saving grace as a young child growing up on a farm. Today, when I see children reading, my heart soars. One day, when I was at Barnes and Noble’s, I walked through the children’s section and saw a little boy with his nose buried in a book. He was oblivious to everyone around him. I smiled because that was me as a child. I often heard my mother sighing as she called me to complete my chores and me replying, ” Just one more page. Please, Mom just one more page.”
I love children of all ages. They are a God-given gift. Encourage them to read. Read with them, and read to them. Encourage them to use their imagination. Tell them stories and listen to theirs. I promise the time you spend with them will become memories that will last a lifetime.
If you enjoy reading as much as I do, you might want to consider visiting local nursing homes and reading to the residents. They would love it!
