WAVE OF LOVE WEDNESDAY

It’s the night before Valentine’s Day, and love is starting to fill the air with heightening anticipation of the celebration, that happens every year on February 14th.

Children will carry cute little cards to share with their classmates, flowers will be chosen and given to loved ones, couples will enjoy a delicious dinner at their favorite restaurant, and beautiful cards will be exchanged.  But the words that mean so much, that touch the very core of the heart, ” I love you,” is what every child, man, and woman wants and needs to hear.

I love Valentine’s Day, and yes, I will be one of those sharing a delicious meal with my husband and exchanging a touching card. I will be saying, ” I love you.” and I know that I will hear the same sediment.

As I am writing the words to this story, a thought came to mind. With everything going on in our world today. All the anger, all the hate, and all the indifference, I wish that Valentine’s Day could be celebrated each day.

I envision it like a remake of Groundhog Day, the movie in which the main character re-lived the same day over and over again. Maybe if we could relive February 14th, love would nestle so deep in our hearts, that all the negative thoughts, all the hate, all the non-acceptance, and all the indifference in the world would vanish like a puff of smoke.

I believe in love. I believe that every man, woman, and child needs love to feel complete. Come to think of it our animals also need to be loved and not abused.

So, on this Valentine’s eve, I would like you to think about those you love with your whole heart regardless of their imperfections.

Then I would like you to think about those who are lost, homeless, hungry,  and sick. Many of these beautiful souls are lonely and starving for love. What could you do to make a difference in their lives? Perhaps you could be a wave of love.

On February 14th and every day, be a ray of sunshine to those you love and those you do not know.  I promise your heart will thank you!
