Did you ever wonder why so many people are in a hurry? Every day, I see people rushing here and there, driving way to fast, to go who knows where running red lights and honking horns.
Why do some of us pile up our days with everything under the sun, leaving very little time to breathe? I must confess, I was one of those folks who thought I had to be busy every minute of the day. However, things have changed for me. The change did not come easy, but it happened. It came through prayer, a changing path, and the love of my husband, family, and friends.
Time seems to fly by, seconds turn into minutes, minutes turn into hours and hours turn into days, days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months and months turn into years, and all the while it seems like a whirlwind. My mother used to say that life is like a roll of toilet paper. It goes faster at the end. I think about her little saying quite often and see the truth.
Things I thought were important to me in my younger days, are things I do not even think about now. It might sound strange to you dear readers, but my thoughts on time started to change when I began spending time with my devotional in the morning, and through prayer.
It continued to improve when I really looked at the beauty that surrounds us daily. My daily walks helped me realize that there is so much more to life than the hustle and bustle. I believe that we were created to work hard, have kind hearts and to help others.
However, I believe that along with the big events in our lives, we were also born to enjoy the little things as well. That is where I am in my life today. The little things, like the sun that rises in the pink, orange, and blue sky then sets ever so gently bringing the quiet darkness.
I love the joy of sitting on my front porch, reading a good book, smiling, laughing, and talking with those walking past my home. Trail walking fills my soul with the beauty of nature, the thick trees covered with green leaves, and the wildflowers popping up around each corner. Music has been a vital part of enjoying the time that God has given to me. My writing and love of the written word have led me on an adventure, opening my eyes and heart.
Time is precious, it goes quickly, and we cannot get it back. Work hard, but always find time to enjoy what you love, breathe in the fresh air, see the beauty that surrounds us, laugh a lot, love deeply, find your passion, dance around the room, and say, I love you every day. Slow down and look for the little things created by God that will make a big difference in your life.
