RUSTLING OF WINGS

Today as I walked to my book club, I was taken back by a group of birds ready to take off flying to who knows where. Although the sight of them was a treat, I was in awe by the rustling of their wings.  A beautiful sound resonated as they all flapped together getting ready for their trip.  I listened mesmerized as they took off like a group of helicopters heading toward their destination.

As I continued on my way, the sound of their wings echoed in my ears creating a thought about another rustling of wings.  Angel wings. Beautiful angels, who reside in heaven, waiting patiently for their earthly assignment.

The thought of having angels around me has always brought a warm feeling to my heart.  I believe they walk with us during difficult times.  And I do also think that they surround us when we pass, helping us on our final journey to our forever home.

One of my favorite scriptures on angels is; Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers; for thereby, some have entertained angels unawares. (Hebrews 13 1-2)

Sometimes I think we are tested to see how much we care about others. Maybe there are angels among the homeless or strangers we meet as we take a nice walk. Perhaps an angel has knocked on your door.  I believe there are angels in disguise around every corner, just waiting to see how we will respond. And, I think they come in different ages, skin color, shapes, and sizes.

Heavenly Host is a beautiful biblical name for the army of angels who are always looking for ways to protect us, lead us, love us, and bring us messages of joy, hope, and unconditional love.

The rusting of wings, what an incredible sound!
