Skyler was my great-grandson. He was born, July 1, 2016. Little did we know that twenty-nine days later, God’s angels would travel to earth, and escort our precious, perfect little boy to his forever home in heaven. I started writing the Skyler Letters to help me with my grief. However, I continue to write them to help others who might be going through the pain and heartbreak that we experience and still do. I hope that the letters will bring peace, hope and above all love to all those who read them. Acceptance and Love is the thirty-ninth letter in the Skyler series. In this letter, Skyler writes to his Gigi, pouring out his heart, hoping his words will make a difference.
Dear Gigi,
Guess what? I have a new friend! His name is Peter, and he came to heaven two weeks ago. Peter told me that he was sick, really sick, but now he is well. That is what happens when you arrive in heaven. Peter and all my friends feel better, and they are happy. Everyone is happy even all the grown-ups. Gigi, some children, and grown-ups could not walk on earth, but in heaven, they are running. Some of the children could not talk, but here they are talking to everyone. Some could not hear, but now they understand everything. Isn’t that great, Gigi?
Gigi, I know you have been sad, but I want you to know that everything is going to be okay. Tell Aunt Donna, and Uncle Lee too. And please tell Aunt Emma’s family that she is healthy and happy. She can breathe and does not cough anymore. Guess what, her heart is perfect. Please tell them that she is not alone here in heaven, and neither are any of you on earth.
Gigi, last week, Angel Gabriel blew his horn really loud. All my friends and I went to the Story Hill and waited to hear the lesson. Oh, I need to tell you that some pretty purple flowers are growing on the side of the Hill. You would love them. Today it was Angel Delphia’s turn to tell us a story about the sadness on earth.
Gigi, I need to ask you, why do some children bully? Why do grown-ups bully? Why can’t everyone on earth just love and accept those who are different? It’s not hard to love, you just have to open your heart. Angel Delphia, told us to send rays of love to everyone on earth. Gigi, please tell as many people as you can that we are all different. Even in heaven, we are different. It should never matter that we look different, think different or talk differently. It is really okay.
Tell them that all they need to do is love with all their might and to be kind to everyone. It is not hard. And one more thing. Tell them to forgive everyone who bullied them. Love them instead. Gigi, promise me that you will spread the word. It is important. Really important.
I miss you, Gigi! Please tell my brothers, Preston and Carson, that I love them. I watched Preston play basketball. He was terrific. I ran up and down the court with him. Carson is walking! I kissed their cheeks. Tell Mommy that I love her. Tell Nana and Pop-pop that I miss them too.
Peter and I need to go. Angel Delphia just told us a new little girl will be arriving soon. We want to go and meet her. Talk to you soon! I love you, Gigi!
